SMART Landscaping Expo

November 5, 2016

Come and join us at the Sustainable Manageable Attractive Responsible Timely (SMART) Landscaping Expo on Saturday, November 5, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Van Dam Building at the A.V. Fairgrounds.

Admission and parking is free.

The SMART Landscaping Expo will feature a variety of speakers teaching attendees how to create beautiful, sustainable, water-saving landscapes designed for the High Desert.

Expo Topics will include:

Sustainable Landscape Designing from A to Z – Denise Keef, Denise K. Designs

Manageable Yards Using Boulders, Rocks & Mulches – Neal Weisenberger

Attractive Plants that Thrive in Local Conditions – A.V. Resource Conservation District

Responsible Alternatives to Watering, Like Drip Irrigation – Glenn Gunther, Glenn’s Lawn Care

Timely Transitions made from Lawn to SMART Landscape – Brad Hayes, Greenbee Nurser

Exhibitors on-site include*:  Antelope Valley College,  Antelope Valley Bee Keepers, A.V National Audubon Society, Antelope Valley Resources Conservation District,  Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency,  Coldwell Banker A Hartwig C, Denise K. Designs,  DCF Soils Inc., Glenn’s Lawn Care,  Greenbee Landscaping,  JNR Home Improvements,  Los Angeles County Water Works,  Littlerock Irrigation District,  Palmdale Water District,  Quartz Hill Garden Center & Nursery,  and Quartz Hill Water District.

The Expo’s sponsor, the Antelope Valley Water Contractors Association, was created in 1999 in an effort to optimize the use of local water resources and protect surface water and groundwater storage within the Antelope Valley. Three public water agencies combine to form the AVSWCA in serving the Antelope Valley: Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency, Littlerock Creek Irrigation District, and Palmdale Water District.

Presentations*:  Two stages will be open at the SMART Landscaping Expo featuring experienced speakers teaching attendees how to Design and Build beautiful and sustainable landscapes that are also water-efficient.
