8/25: 4:00 p.m. – Midnight (Military Appreciation day: Admission is free for active military/veterans and their dependents w/I.D.s)

2nd Annual Alfie’s People’s Choice Fair Food Competition:
There are three 2016 People’s Choice Award Categories: Food, Dessert and Beverage.
People’s Choice Award ballots will be available at all participating food concessionaire booths and the Antelope Valley Press InFAIRmation booth for three days only, starting opening day of the Fair, Friday, August 19 (4pm – 11pm), Saturday, August 20 and Sunday, August 21 (2pm – 11pm). Winners will be announced Monday, August 22

All concert tickets include admission into the Fair, except the 8/21 Calibre 50/Larry Hernandez concert (requires a ticket).

Grandstand seating is FREE with the purchase of general admission tickets to all concerts except the Calibre 50/Larry Hernandez concert on 8/21 (festival seating). FREE Grandstand seating for concerts is available on a first come, first seated basis. For concerts beginning at 7:30 p.m., the Grandstand opens at 6:15p.m. for patrons w/special needs, 6:30 p.m. for gen. public. For the Calibre 50/Larry Hernandez concert, the grandstands open at 5:15 for patrons w/special needs and 5:30 for the general public. Children occupying seats for concerts must have a ticket. Children 5 yrs. old and younger are free with paid adult.

Thursday, 8/25th is the 5th Annual Military Appreciation Day. Admission is FREE all day/night for active military/veterans and their dependents with I.D.s. Active military/veterans are invited to enter the fairgrounds through a military-only gate, on a red carpet, at the main entrance to Fair. Till 8pm, Military attendees will be greeted and presented with a lanyard for the military branch they are serving or served in. At 7pm, in the Marco & Sandra Johnson Foundation Grand Oasis (Open to the public that night), a new USO Show will be performed by the AV College Jazz Ensemble Big Band, under the direction of Lee Matalon.  At 7:30p.m. before the Figure 8 race, sponsored by Allstate/Cullen Insurance, in the Miller Lite Grandstand Arena, a special tribute will be conducted that includes recognition of all military in attendance when the anthems for the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy are broadcast.

Grandstand seating is FREE on a first come, first seated basis, with the purchase of general admission tickets to the Figure 8 Race on Thursday, 8/25 and Rural Olympics/Fireworks on Sat., 8/27. For the Figure 8 Race and Monster Trucks shows, the Grandstand opens at 6:15p.m. for patrons w/special needs, 6:30 p.m. for gen. public. For the Rural Olympics on 8/27 and Demo Derby on 8/28, the grandstands open at 5:15 for patrons w/special needs and 5:30 for the general public.

Monster Truck and Demo Derby tickets INCLUDE Fair Admission. There are no free Grandstand seats for the Monster Trucks and Demo Derby events, a ticket is required that will include Fair admission. Children occupying seats for Monster Trucks or Demolition Derby must have a ticket. Children 3 years old and younger are free with paid adult.
